The Ariston model enjoyed a long run, with the first prototypes being built in 1950 to the last boat built in 1974. The boat comes with Riva fenders, a mahogany fold down swim ladder, a custom full waterline cover, and a 2016 Ryan Trailers dual axle trailer. The engine was rebuilt in during the restoration in 2018 but the tachometer still shows the original engine hours of 458.0. Power comes from a Riva Crusader V8 with 190 hp. This Riva won a 1st place award at the prestigious Lake Tahoe Concours d’Elegance boat show after the restoration was completed. It took over $175k to complete the restoration with no expense spared including a no soak West System bottom and the upgrade from painted white hull sides to mahogany hull sides. This 1969 Riva Junior received the highest in quality of restoration which was completed in 2018 and was done by Northwest Classic Boats. In 1972 the Junior was replaced by the Rudy, of very similar design and slightly longer, but made of fiberglass. The cockpit is equipped along its sides by a large mahogany grab rail with an elaborate front stay of chrome plated bronze incorporating the engine air intakes. The Riva Junior was launched with the slogan, ”It’s the young people’s rocket”. The design of the transom, also used for the Olympic, had the purpose of protecting the passengers from spray from the stern. The sides and transom were normally painted white, but this example has beautiful mahogany hull sides. Conceived for utility use and ease of maintenance it was typified by a large cockpit that could be walked round the engine cover and driving seat. When introduced in 1966 it was designed to replace the Riva Florida. The Riva Junior was produced from 1966 to 1972 with only 626 examples made. Perhaps no other company in North America has as much experience with these boats as we do. ![]() Sierra Boat has been importing, maintaining and restoring Riva boats since the late 70’s. And no other mahogany boat appreciates in value like these boats do. They are extremely well-built and reliable. ![]() To this day, nothing quite performs, rides or handles quite like a Riva. New designs were subject to rigorous testing, often by Carlo personally. These boats are often compared with Rolls Royce and Ferrari due to their high quality.Ĭarlo always looked for the finest materials available, which included America built marine engines and German made gauges. First produced in 1962, they are the most collected and prized of any mahogany boat. Perhaps the crowning achievement of this effort was the production of the iconic Aquarama. Nothing was compromised in the quality of their construction. In the 1950’s Carlo Riva set about to build series produced boats, manufactured in a state of the art factory. With a tradition of boatbuilding, spanning over 170 years, the brand has a heritage like no other. Riva, the name represents the finest of Italian style and craftsmanship.
